DStv is the only true home of football in Africa, offering a range and depth of action that no other rival can match – it’s literally ‘Unbeatable Football’! If you’re going to spend your money on something, it may as well be on the best football in the world.
Matchday 1 for Groups C and D opens with the midday kick-off on Tuesday 22 November between Argentina and Saudi Arabia at the Lusail Iconic Stadium. La Albiceleste are considered one of the outright favourites to win the tournament, mainly thanks to inexperienced coach Lionel Scaloni earning the respect and love of his players.
“One will die for him on the pitch,” said Emiliano Martinez. “Scaloni is a super humble guy. He knows how to get to the players. He talks to you as a peer, to everyone. I’m a little unaware. It’s hard for me to think where I have gotten. But when I go to Argentina, I spend time there and I see the affection of the people.”
Tuesday’s second game sees Tunisia come up against a highly-regarded Denmark outfit at the Education City Stadium, before Mexico and Poland clash at Stadium 974 in Doha – with the Eagles hoping that Robert Lewandowski can lift them to victory.
“He’s incredibly important as the quality he has raises our level and you can see a country relying on him. He is always a very sensible boy, he always wants to perform. He knows how to make the difference and he will make the difference,” said former Poland coach Paulo Sousa of Lewandowski.
The late kick-off comes from the Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah, as reigning champions France get the defence of their title underway with a clash against the Socceroos of Australia. Les Bleus will hope that 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema is at his best and ready to fire them to victory.
“As much as it’s Karim’s award, it’s also a collective one,” said France coach Didier Deschamps of the Real Madrid star’s accolade. “As he’s in a collective sport, he couldn’t have won it without the help of his teammates at his club or with the French team.
“Every player has his own journey, with his own difficulties at one moment or another. The high-quality player, beyond his footballing abilities, also has a mentality and an experience that grows over the years.”
No rival can compete with SuperSport’s coverage. Our viewers on DStv enjoy an unrivalled selection of football from around the world!
