Reyka Season 2 Episode 7

Last week: Speelman killed a priest in the harbour and assumed his identity in his bid to get back to Scotland. Jodie inadvertently joined some Lover’s Lane dots for Reyka. A connection between the cobbler’s shop robbery, the owner’s murder and the Lover’s Lane murders became clearer. Thuli’s struggles at school resulted in her harming herself. Reyka arrested Zwelethu at Lover’s Lane and the Durban Harbour Police investigated his past after Ayanda found a bloodied hammer hidden at home. 

This week: Ayanda’s relationship with Zee implodes as his secrets are revealed. A stunning revelation about relationships at the Sunrise Children’s Home could offer the police some insight into the murders. Reyka is caught between helping Jodie find her mother, issues with Elsa and connecting the dots in her murky past – sending her into crisis. Tanner infiltrates the Maritime Inn and makes a horrifying discovery. The Lover’s Lane killer strikes again.

Watch out for: A devastating revelation from Reyka’s former priest that irrevocably alters her understanding of her abduction by Speelman.

Did you know?: The actress who plays Jodie, Tamara Skye, was cast the day before her character started filming on the series, because of a last-minute cancellation. The producers knew she was perfect for the role, the second they saw her - and she delivers a wonderful, authentic performance. She also plays ‘Lexi’ in kykNET’s Binnelanders.

Location to look out for: The Maritime Inn exterior is in Durban, but the interior scenes were filmed at a hotel in Krugersdorp. The seamless transition was facilitated by the amazing work of production designer Marna Heunis and art director Rita Neethling.
