Fans of Sibongile & The Dlaminis are in for a treat as the hit show returns for its second season on Mzansi Wethu (DStv Channel 163). The beloved drama series is set to premiere on 29 July, airing Monday to Wednesday at 18:30 CAT, and promises even more twists and turns than the first season.
The first season captivated audiences with the story of Sibongile, a spirited small-town girl whose dreams of furthering her education and improving her family's life were met with numerous challenges.
Formerly portrayed by Luyanda Zwane, Sibongile's journey was filled with heartache, especially after her brief romance with Kwenzo ended due to Nomalanga’s pregnancy. Forced to return to her village in Ixopo, Sibongile had to navigate the harsh realities of her unsupportive stepmother, Deliwe, and a disappointed father until the truth about her circumstances was revealed.
In the upcoming season, newcomer Nsikelelo Mthiyane steps into the role of Sibongile. The continuation of her story promises more explosive secrets, heated confrontations, and the relentless gossip from Nomfundo’s group of helpers, the Dlamini squad. Season 2 will also introduce new characters who are set to stir up drama for both the Dlaminis and Sibongile’s family.
“Sibongile & The Dlaminis has been a gift that keeps on giving for our audiences, with season 1 surpassing one million viewership numbers, and we can proudly say that it has been a resounding success,” said Shirley Adonisi, Director for Local Entertainment Channels.
“We are excited to embark on this second chapter of Sibongile’s journey and we know that the new additions and changes will make this story even more exciting.”
As the new season unfolds, viewers will be left questioning if Phetheni will discover the love triangle she’s entangled in, if Vuma will ever forgive Deliwe, and what the future holds for Nomalanga’s pregnancy and Gcina’s involvement. Most importantly, will Sibongile finally get her 'Cinderella' moment with Kwenzo?
Don’t miss the much-anticipated premiere of Season 2 of Sibongile & The Dlaminis on Mzansi Wethu (DStv Channel 163), starting 29 July at 18:30 CAT.
