Simamkele Mahambehlala known as “Sleeze” may not be the household name yet but sooner or later he will be the force to be reckoned with in the music industry. He is a young talented South African Rapper, Song writer, Model and Influencer.
His love and passion for music started at an incredibly young age until he could not resist anymore. While he was juggling between his studies, he released his first single “sawce” on YouTube which reached a total of over 3000 streams on all social media platforms.
That got him to be invited to high schools around Gauteng to come and entertain students at their school events. That was the beginning of a big dream that could never be stopped. A lot has happened in 2020 for the young artist, he released 2 singles “Nyawuza” featuring a young talented female Rapper Dee Koala from Khayelitsha in Cape Town and “New Coupe” featuring MusiholiQ from Umlazi Township in KZN.
“Nyawuza” is Sleeze’s clan name, in this song he begs his Ancestors to bless and protect him in this ‘dog eats a dog’ industry.
The two singles earned a lot of airplay, interviews on radio and television and his videos being played during prime time on few television music programmes including Channel O, YoTv -where he also gave a performance for the young YoTv audiences and Mpumakapa TV just to mention a few. His music is on YouTube and other online digital platforms like Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, YouTube Music etc.
He describes his music as vibrant combination of Rap and Hip Hop that rejuvenates and revives energy to those who find themselves trapped in the past. His Dancing moves and Signature Tapping toes moves turns heads around. Sleeze doesn’t only love music he also has love for clothes and fashion that has made him popular to some of the local popular brands such as “Members of Society, Vwoke, and Slim Lucy’. In 2019 he was nominated “Influencer Of The Year”.
In 2020 he performed at the annual freshers party at the Nelson Mandela University in Gqeberha alongside mainstream artist such as Yanga Chief , Nokwazi and Heavy K . In December last year (2020), he was also featured on the 9th annual Ebubeleni Music Festival which was virtual and aired on Channel O (DSTV 320). These performances gained him popularity in the industry and boosted his fanbase.
Amongst his other achievements, Sleeze featured US based Hip-Hop artist, “Tythegod” in one of his singles which he released early in March 2021 titled Impido. He has also been interviewed on national radio stations such as Umhlobo Wenene; TruFm , Bay FM , Nkqubela FM “ just to name a few . He is also playlisted on these stations and his music videos are also playing on national TV.
His debut EP titled “INGWE” inspired by real life events is set to drop in September 2021 , on this masterpiece he shows off his versatility and singing skills as he also adds an Amapiano track. He rejuvenates all different types of sounds and puts it together to create something beautiful.
He is currently working on a project that is very close to his heart for a long time, visiting schools in and around Yeoville, Bellevue East where he grew up, talking about dangers of Drug and Alcohol Abuse amongst
today’s youth and artists. He hopes to get the support of the government and some corporate in making this campaign a success as he plans to do a Public Art/Mural on Drug and Alcohol Abuse as part of his Awareness Campaign.
With these new offering he vows to change the Music Industry in the Continent and around the world.
