She first shot to fame as a member of the pop girl group Fifth Harmony. Even then,  it became instantly clear that Normani had a big solo career awaiting her whenever the group would call it a day. After all, it's a fate which awaits every pop formation.

It happened in early 2018, and the 22 year old has gone on to prove she's really the industry's next lead female act!

This destiny was finally crystallised when Normani did a breathtaking number at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, where she performed her first Top 10 hit as a solo artist, the lush and mellow Love Lies with Khalid. There, Normani left audiences struck when she aced some near contortionist high energy choreography, which she elevated with smooth vocals. Her breath control is right up there with Beyoncé!

Refusing to be boxed as the 'next Beyoncé', however, Normani shot down the comparison with a tweet. "I am NORMANI. I was born NORMANI. I will die NORMANI. PERIOD *in my city girls voice*, she said, sparking some backlash. 

The alternative RnB star on Wednesday liberated the very galactic visuals of her long awaited visual for WAVES, featuring 6LACK. The music video finds Normani doing her thing in space, clearly confident in that the world is her oyster.
