The task started with each of the pairs having to pick a representative to pick a number out of a box, which they duly did. Then, according to the instructions from Biggie … they had to await further instructions. Big Brother really likes to keep the housemates guessing, huh? While they were waiting on those instructions, the housemates rushed to get dressed in some Flutterwave swag, since the task was sponsored by one of the sponsor’s services, “Send”.
The task was based on the notion of using the service to send love to the important people in your life, in keeping with the Valentine’s-themed day.
It’s worth remembering that these smaller tasks are actually a challenge for the housemates – not because they are hard, necessarily, but because they get in the way of wager task preparations. The housemates have 50% of their income riding on the outcome of this week’s wager, and they’re coming off of a loss from last week, so they’d appreciate all the time they could get on preparing for Thursday. Unfortunately, things don’t come easy in Biggie’s house.
Eventually, the call came for the housemates to assemble in the arena, and some of the housemates wished the ninjas a “happy Valentine’s Day” upon entry, which is nice, we suppose. Do the ninjas feel love, or are they mindless bidders of Biggie’s will?
“Before we proceed with the rules of the game,” intoned Biggie, “it is worthy of mention that you will be playing in your pairs in the order of the numbers you picked earlier from the lucky dip.” That explained the earlier activity, at least. “Oh, and the winning pair will have a whopping cash prize at the end of this game.” Obviously, that got the housemates’ attention.
Unfortunately, the rules of the game seemed to confuse many of them – they were kinda odd, if we’re being honest, but here’s the gist: one member of each pair would have to read a card out loud, and the other member would have to find the corresponding card in another box, then deliver that card to the original member by running down a track that represents a transaction between people in two different countries. This would be repeated as often as possible within three minutes in order to gain as many points as possible.
The Royals had the first shot, and once Ebubu took off down the track, it became very apparent that the track in question was a lot more slippery than it looked, which explained why the housemates were required to get into protective gear. It was also clear the instructions had not been fully understood, and Biggie had to give them pointers to keep them in the game. That’s the bad luck that comes with being first, we suppose. They managed to pull off a total of four points from their run – but we had no idea if that would turn out to be good or bad.
In the end, it proved to be both: four points was the worst score of the evening, but they were not the only team to achieve it, as three other teams joined them – Maya, Blaqleng and Juvone. Four other teams were sitting with scores of five and six, but it was the Head of House pair – Thabana – who took the honours. With a final score of seven points, Nana and Thabang have kept up their winning streak this week and earned themselves a cash prize to boot. Exactly how much is yet to be revealed.
