After eight great episodes yet, this series has kept us in tears of laughter, and all up in our feelings with an emotional rollercoaster of friendship, love, and betrayal. Here are the top five reasons we’re glued to To Have and To Hold.
Fashion game
The love-affair between fashion and the beautiful key ladies never fails to cast a spell on us in every episode. Their individual style statement – be it casual looks, corporate fits, or a dinner-date ensemble, they slay every outfit with equal charm and elegance. This article wouldn’t be complete without a special mention to Kuukua, who is always ready to serve looks, whether in her mansion or in her broke state.
The amazing characters
Boy, oh, boy, these are some colourful characters! From the beautiful Kuukua, Enyonam and Akosua to the comical Agbo, we absolutely love the crazy, silly, funny, self-centred, and amazing mix of characters on this show. Each character is so insanely different from the others and more than anything, some of them are so relatable, and we bet you all have a Kuukua, Steve, Quansah or Akosua in your lives. While some make us cry from laughing so hard, some keep us on the edge of our seats with the rollercoaster of emotions they carry on their backs in each episode.
The life lessons
To Have and To Hold has such a good storyline that you can’t help but learn a thing or two from each scene. Romance, business ethics, friendship, loyalty, marriage, motherhood… oh, the list is endless and if you’re anything like us, you’d grab a piece of paper and a pen when the show comes on. Of course, while munching on your favourite snacks!
Friendship goals
The show showcases great friendships between Akosua, Enyonam and Kuukua, but none are as fun or understated as Agbo and Nii Tetteh. Who else agrees? While their (toxic) relationship doesn’t get the screen time that these others do, these two have the best, weirdest, and funniest friendship ever recorded on Akwaaba Magic. With all the drama and struggles in their lives, we admire the way Kuukua, Enyonam and Akosua always come through for one another and whether it’s having a shoulder to lean on, a night of fun, a house to squat in or a makeover magic, these three never hesitate to serve the cutest friendship goals on To Have and To Hold.
Comedy
What’s a great show without some comic relief? And with a character like Agbo that brings the ‘fun’ in ‘funny’, it’s hard to stay mad at his choices and decisions for so long. How could we forget our favourite clown, Sam, who told Akosua (his wife) that he forgot to tell her he was getting married to someone else. Now, if that isn’t comedy, we don’t know what it is!
