Amoanimaa’s Era is a series like no other because it draws inspiration from two different worlds and tries to marry them in an exceptional piece of storytelling based on folklore.
Aside from telling the story from the lens of a goddess, the new Akwaaba Magic series also catapults fans into a world where men rule and live as the story throws light on the past and makes it reflect on present happenings.
Fans enjoy the timeshifts as the series progresses with more details trickling in every weeknight at 8:00 pm when the show airs. For a clear understanding, time travel is necessary to paint the perfect picture Amoanimaa’s Era seeks to present.
Let us take a trip to the two worlds duly represented in Amoanimaa’s Era thus far.
Celestial world: This is predominantly where Amoanimaa hones all the powers bestowed upon her by Nsuo. It is the dwelling place of the other celestial beings and gods including Attah, Owin, Sakora, Nsuo, Nimde3, and Sika Nyame.
Most of the time, the celestial world tells of the past and gives a clear picture of Amoanimaa’s love life, her subsequent rise to power, and her growing desire to wield the powers of the other deities.
In the celestial world, we get to see Amoanimaa’s ever-loving and compassionate character getting marred by the threat to her life from open challenges by other gods including her brother, Antwi. These upheavals cause Amoanimaa to put up her guard and become power-drunk leading to a mutiny to keep her caged forever.
It is important to mention that anytime there is a switch to the celestial world, it is a move to retrospectively look into the past to trace Amoanimaa’s steps and how she is the way she is presently.
Asempa Village (Present Day): Where Amoanimaa finds herself without most of her powers is the present-day Asempa village and that is where most of the story is told. In Asempa village, Amoanimaa has to deal with coming to terms with her current state as a powerless goddess and work her way up with the help of the alliances she has started building.
The once-powerful goddess-queen is now grappling with technology and the fact that she is not revered nor worshipped like she was some 500 years ago.
With the help of Agya Nimo and Baffour, Amoanimaa tries to meander her way through the maze of a world she least expected to find herself in and one she hopes to leave as soon as she gets back all her power. Will she ever grow to her full potential and get back to being a vile queen or will she learn from her mistakes and take some lessons from her newfound partnerships with mortals and see the world more differently? We can only wait to see.
Don’t miss this exciting series of divinity meeting humanity which airs every weeknight at 8:00pm.
