Of all the members of the Gyado clan, Iyoma always stuck out like an inflamed thumb thanks to her ‘holier than thou’ demeanour and her impossibly high expectations of others. Her first meeting with now bae, Leon was so typical of her, none of us saw the very romantic turning point coming; not even with our double lensed magnifiers. It’s true that love sees no reason, but hers is tale worthy!
Remember how Leon was thrown into the deep and had to apologize when he mistook Iyoma for an area girl looking to strike it big with a ‘seemingly monied’ import? Yes o, the evening before the two were formally introduced as business allies. While you’d agree that Leon’s assumptions were fed by his very limited knowledge of Lagos culture, Iyoma felt that his ignorance was a breastplate of choice and his apology meant absolutely nothing
Well, without narrating the obvious and trying to describe how the two tripped into an embrace and fell flat in love; Iyoma found the tall gem worthy of her ‘hard to earn’ love and gave happiness a chance. So much so that she began to see her mother Abombola’s previous mishaps as a type of love that refused to adhere to boundaries. A kind of love that preferred a 30-year-long marriage to pride.
With ring in box and heart on sleeve, Leon was ready to make things official with the youngest Gyado, but fate planned it inversely. Without warning, Leon was pronounced dead by poisoning and Iyoma was left with nothing but the memories; and after months of searching for both the evil-doer and a spark of hope, news of Tobore’s involvement In Tivdo’s almost fatal accident and by extension, Leon’s death surfaced and it was then that Iyoma buried all reason and sought for revenge; a kind that resulted in the death of Tobore and the running over of Leon’s alleged poisoner.
… And now as if the dark cloud hovering over them wasn’t enough a threat, Leon emerges in one piece and not a scratch of death insight. After all the trouble and the pain Iyoma chested, guy was in witness protection trying to strike a deal for his freedom. Sour much?!
Whether Iyoma dodges the law’s bullet by letting her former lover plead of her behalf or not is a question of time. Remain in the know but keeping it locked to AM Showcase Mon-Sat at 20:30.
