Apart from dance allowing us to escape reality, it's just good for the soul.

Since yesterday, the housemates have been up and down dancing their socks off in a never-seen-battle of Big Brother Naija No Loose Guard. Divided into four teams of four each, some of the Top 16 have been forced to face their fears and put on their dancing shoes for the ultimate goal of being the best ever to ever do it this season.

We looked at these 10 reasons why dance challenges are great for the show:

1. Entertainment: Dance challenges bring excitement and energy to the BBNaija house, entertaining both housemates and viewers.

2. Bonding: Participating in a dance challenge can foster camaraderie and teamwork among housemates. Have you seen how housemates who would not normally hang out, are getting to spend a bit more time together?

3. Stress relief: Dancing can help housemates release tension and anxiety, promoting mental well-being. When Toke Makinwa made a surprise pop-in yesterday, she advised the housemates to take advantage of the opportunity of being in Biggie’s house. She told them to forget about the outside world and focus on their game and having fun.

4. Self-expression: Dance challenges allow housemates to showcase their creativity, personality, and style. It’s funny how some housemates didn’t think they could master a dance routine to save their lives but we’ve seen the likes of dance back-benchers Ben, Ocee, Ozee and Shaun show up and bust some moves, which is quite exciting to witness.

5. Competition: Dance challenges provide an opportunity for housemates to compete and win prizes or advantages in the game. Will the best dance crew walk away with any prizes? What we do know for sure is that they will definitely take bragging rights. As for the rest, Big Brother’s house, Big Brother’s rules.

6. Fan engagement: Viewers participate by selecting their favourite performances, increasing audience excitement and involvement. It’s been nothing but bliss following the dance battle on socials, seeing how fans rally behind their faves and uniting for one cause, to see their best pull through as the ultimate BBNaija Season 9 dance champs.

7. Cultural exchange: Dance challenges can highlight diverse dance styles and cultural influences, promoting cross-cultural understanding. Did you see how the teams infused various moves from all over Africa and over the seas? That’s exactly what we’re talking about.

8. Personal growth: Housemates can develop new skills, build confidence, and step out of their comfort zones through dance challenges. We already spoke about how some housemates normally with two left feet, have found their footing and totally outdid themselves.

9. Team-building: Dance challenges can encourage collaboration, communication, and trust among housemates.

10. Unpredictability: Dance challenges can lead to unexpected moments, surprises, and memorable TV moments. Though we watch them rehearse, nothing can prepare you for seeing everything come together at battle. Priceless!

These benefits can enhance the overall Big Brother experience, creating a more engaging and enjoyable show for both housemates and viewers. Though there can be only one winning crew, we know that all crews gained so ,much more by being part of the whole dance challenge experience.
