The Housemates and House Guests won their Wager for the week after they made a presentation of five art pieces made out of recycled material.
This week the theme in Biggie’s House is 'The Green Earth'. It's all about going green, sustainable energy and all things to celebrate planet earth. With this in mind, the Housemates were to create at least two objects of art using mainly waste materials like plastic, paper and cans.
The Housemates quickly started preparing for their presentation by putting together the materials provided by Biggie to create amazing pieces. Notable amongst these Housemates were Rider Chizzy, who worked hard to put together a miniature House. Adekunle, and Chichi were also spotted working hard at pieces that were supposed to be part of the presentation. Chichi’s artwork - a chandelier made out of balloons - however, did not make it to the presentation as it burst while it was still being constructed.
The art pieces
Though Biggie had requested at least two art pieces, the Housemates seemed to have been filled with creative ideas as they presented five outstanding pieces. The pieces were a recycling robot, a chair made with bottles, Turtles made with plastic, a water filter, and an eco-friendly home.
Rehearsals
Apart from putting their art pieces together, the Housemates had to give a compelling presentation to explain their pieces and this meant proper rehearsals had to be held. Presenters, Adekunle, Daniella, Dotun, Groovy, and Sheggz, started with a mock presentation on Thursday and then had two different sets of rehearsals today in order to be ready for their presentation.
The big presentation
A few minutes after rounding up their rehearsal, the Housemates were summoned into the Lounge by Biggie to make their presentation. The presentation started with Head of House Phyna handling the introductions before calling on Sheggz to speak about the recycling robot which was inspired by the street cleaners in Lagos. His presentation was well received by his fellow Housemates who gave him a round of applause and by viewers who commended him on social media.
Next up was Groovy who spoke about the 'Bottle Chair', an art piece made with wood and plastic water bottles. The inspiration behind the piece was to show the usability of recycled materials thereby protecting the environment from plastic waste.
Daniella came next and she gave a presentation on plastic turtles put together by Hermes. The inspiration behind the plastic Turtles was the highlighting of toxic waste in the ocean which endangers the lives of humans and animals, alike.
Dotun was after Daniella and he gave a presentation on an eco-friendly home. He explained all the features of the home and the materials used in making them. Finally, Adekunle stepped up to speak on a water filter made entirely with recycled material.
Assessment and judgement
Biggie pulled a bit of suspense on the House when he did not announce if they won their Wager but rather called on Allysyn, Bryann, and Chomzy to give their assessment on the Task. All three of them gave generally positive reviews, praising the creativity and practicability of the art pieces. Chomzy, however, noted that she wouldn’t pay to have them as artwork in her home because they did not seem nice enough.
After their assessment, Biggie praised the creativity of the Housemates and the practicability of the pieces they created. He then announced that they had worn their Wager this news was met with shouts of joy.
This win means the Housemates and Guests will be rewarded with Pocket Naira for their shopping. We also hope that the win will signify an end to the constant food wars.👀
