After 70 testing days, married man Kellyrae has been crowned the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 9, No Loose Guard. Having walked into the house with his wife Kassia, disguised as besties, the duo dubbed DoubleKay’s strategy could have gone either way.
It was the fear of judgment in the house that made them decide on taking this strategy into the house and on launch night, BBNaija host Ebuka and the rest of Africa were not sure if this was a good idea.
“Having to lie that your wife is your friend is probably the biggest lie I’ve told in my life,” he said on the finale stage, just before being crowned the ultimate winner.
Once Ebuka announced him as the winner, Kellyrae jumped up and down the stage before running into his wife’s arms, lifting her up and turning her around in sheer jubilation.

Kellyrae walks away with 60 Million Naira in cash, a brand new Innoson car, among other prizes.
A tough ride
It would seem BBNaija fans loved the idea of Kellyrae concealing his marital status in the house and hung onto the DoubleKay storyline till the end. A strong duo from the jump, when the pairs were unmated halfway through the game, KaySquad were the first fanbase to declare their stance to keep Kellyrae in the game so as to not split their votes. This while other fanbases still scrambled with decisions as to whether they wanted to stand with their initial pairs or face the new reality.
One thing for sure is that Kellyrae was not very popular among his housemates and this meant that he and his wife faced nominations throughout the season.
Having survived six nominations, Kellyrae fought hard to make Head of House to save him from the chopping block but he was always so near yet so far. Just two weeks before the finale, he finally made HoH and it was at the time when it mattered the most as it meant he had a through-pass to the finale. This made him the first finalist of the No Loose Guard season. He also got to spend his birthday on the throne even though hiswife was evicted on the same day, just two days shy of their eight months wedding anniversary.
Through it all, Kellyrae recalled his time in the Big Brother Naira house as amazing, enlightening and beautiful during his final diary session. When Biggie asked him what he would do with the prize money should he win, the ever so cool Kellyrae said he was looking forward to helping people the best way he can. "I'm looking forward to being a great father and doing lots of great things," he said. This statement confirmed that Big Brother will soon be a big uncle, as Biggie joked with him.
Last man standing
Once the finale was in full swing, Kellyrae watched as his fellow finalists dropped one by one, making him the last man standing in the Top 5, after Ozee’s eviction.
Sooj became the first finalist to be knocked out of the game, followed by beauty queen Anita, both leaving their bestie Nelly in the game. Though Ozee followed swiftly, Nelly wasn’t too far off as she became the fourth housemate to be evicted. The next to be evicted was Victoria and Onyeka was so close, making second runner up just below her friend, Wanni.
Down to Kellyrae vs Wanni
The last time Kellyrae was nominated this season, it was by his runner-up Wanni whose nomination was however not enough to put him up for possible eviction as she was the only one who had put him up. Could she have been the only one who saw his power or was it out of spite? Well, they were the last two standing having ousted 26 housemates but at the end of it all, Kellyrae reigns supreme.
