In recent times, the people of Ofu Obodo have faced widespread havoc caused by a mysterious entity. Unveiling this mysterious being, people discovered it to be the Masquerade known as Okwudike. No one knew who he was because, for some time, the people of Ofu Obodo had only known of the great Masquerade of Aniedo. So, who is this strange masquerade who found Augustus, who had been banished from the kingdom, as a suitable candidate and a willing tool?
Unmasking the past
The story of Okwudike takes us back to a time when Ofu Obodo was two separate villages – Ofu and Obodo. Though playful neighbors, a tragic betrayal ignited a bitter war. A young man from Ofu engaged romantically with his Obodo master's wife. In retaliation, the master murdered the young man. The people of Ofu, believing the young man was wrongly accused, declared war against Obodo. Okwudike, the formidable masquerade of Ofu, led his people ruthlessly in the quest to wipe out Obodo. Even pleas for peace from the elders of Obodo could not quench his thirst for vengeance.
A bloody truce and a hidden pact
As exhaustion wore both sides down, the elders of Ofu and Obodo knew the war had to end. But Okwudike, consumed by rage, remained unyielding. In secret, the elders made a desperate pact: Okwudike had to die for peace to have a chance. Aniedo, Okwudike's second-in-command, took on the grim task of silencing his leader. The agreement was sealed with a promise that, after the war, Ofu and Obodo would unite as one.
The deed was done, but in his dying breath, Okwudike vowed revenge. Now, he has returned, leaving a trail of devastation in his wake. The village turns to the one person who stopped him before – the Masquerade of Aniedo. Can he repeat the feat?
