The Rishantes, The Johnsons, and Tinsel have won awards at the eighth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) held over the weekend at Eko Hotel, Lagos. The Rishantes by Dimbo Atiya took home the Best Africa Magic Original Drama Series, Filmmaker, and Television Producer, Rogers Ofime’s The Johnsons won Best Africa Magic Original Comedy Series and Tinsel won an honourary award for being the longest-running Nigerian series on Africa Magic.
As part of his acknowledgment speech, Dimbo Atiya thanked the organizers of the AMVCAs and dedicated the award to fans of The Rishantes. The show explores the challenges of building and maintaining a legacy while dealing with the obstacles of political battles and family dynamics. The show stars Mofe Duncan, Chisom Agoaweike, Ummi Baba Ahmed, Yakubu Mohammed, Bolanle Babalola, and Solomon Wazobia.

The cast and crew of The Johnsons expressed their thanks to the fans and Africa for the award. The sitcom which airs on Africa Magic Showcase every weeknight focuses on an average family based in Lagos Nigeria, their diverse traits, and how they cope with what all that life has to offer them. It stars Chinedu Ikedieze, Olumide Oworu, Ada Ameh, Susan Pwajok, Charles Inojie, Seun Adebajo Osigbesan and Samuel Ajibola.

Being the longest-running show isn’t an easy feat, congratulations to the cast and crew of Tinsel who were immensely grateful for their recognition at the AMVCA.
