The wait is over! This Sunday is the first live show of Nigerian Idol Season 9 and our incredible idols are ready to take the stage and show us what they've got. With the theme of the night being Generation Alpha, our dreamers are ready to not only deliver vocal strength but also show us their unique interpretations of these hit songs. Here's what your faves will be performing on stage for the first live show of the season.
Chioma: 'Never Enough' by The Greatest Showman Ensemble
Chioma will be taking on the powerful ballad 'Never Enough' from The Greatest Showman movie. Outside the context of the movie, 'Never Enough" was a massive hit, reaching high spots on music charts worldwide and achieving platinum status.
Jennifer Igomu: 'Rise Up' by Andra Day
Jennifer Igomu is set to deliver the inspiring anthem 'Rise Up' by Andra Day. 'Rise Up which was released in 2015 as as part of Andra Day's debut album Cheers to the Fall has become a an anthem of resilience and empowerment, inspiring and uplifting listeners everywhere.
Chima: 'Lose Control' by Teddy Swims
Smooth vocals and all, Chima is bringing the energy with 'Lose Control' by Teddy Swims. 'Lose Control' was released in 2023 as the second single from Teddy Swims' debut studio album I've Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1). Its heartfelt lyrics and Swims' passionate delivery has made it a favourite among fans.
David Garland: 'Falling' by Harry Styles
David Garland will be treating us to a dose of tenderness with the heartfelt rendition of Harry Styles' 'Falling' The ballad which was released in 2020 was
the third single from Harry Styles second studio album, Fine Line. The platinum certified song explores themes of heartbreak and self-reflection creating a strong emotional connection with listeners.
Gracia: 'Titanium' by David Guetta ft. Sia
Gracia will bring to the stage some electro-pop vibes with her performance of 'Titanium' by David Guetta ft. Sia. Released in 2011 as part of Guetta's fifth studio album, Nothing but the Beat, Titanium is a powerful dance anthem whose song lyrics are about inner strength.
Japh Kenti: 'I'm in Love' by Patoranking
Bringing Afrobeat flavour to the stage on Sunday, Japh Kenti will be performing 'I'm in Love' by Patoranking. The song was released in February 2020 setting the mood right for Valentine.
Lady Ruth: 'Drunk in Love' by Beyoncé
Lady Ruth will step into Queen B's shoes to deliver 'Drunk in Love' by Beyoncé. 'Drunk in love' with its catchy lyrics and infectious beat was released in 2013 as part of Beyoncé's self-titled fifth studio album.
Lammy: 'All of me' by John Legend
Lammy will be serenading the audience with John Legend's timeless classic 'All of Me.' Released in 2013, as the lead single from John Legend's fourth studio album, Love in the Future, 'All of me' was actually dedicated to Legend's then-fiancée, now wife, Chrissy Teigen 😍.
Maio: 'Ojuelegba' by Wizkid
Maio's task is to keep the party going this Sunday. To achieve this, he will be delivering a high-energy performance of 'Ojuelegba' by Wizkid. The song released in 2014, is from Wizkid's self-titled second studio album, Ayo. It reflects Wizkid's personal journey as an underground artist wandering the streets of Ojuelegba to finance his recording ambition. Fun fact, the song is named after a bustling neighbourhood (Ojuelegba) in Lagos.
Mira Clear: 'Unstoppable' by Sia
Mira Clear will show us why she's unstoppable on the show in her performance of 'Unstoppable' by Sia. The song taken from Sia's seventh studio album This Is Acting was released in 2016. Its energetic vibes make the song a popular choice for workout playlists and motivational videos.
Stevie: 'A Million Dreams' by The Greatest Showman Ensemble
Stevie will be doing justice to the uplifting song 'A Million Dreams' from The Greatest Showman movie. The song which was released in 2017 is the second track from soundtrack of the film, The Greatest Showman. 'A Million Dreams' is quite fitting for this season's contestants as it has become an anthem for dreamers and those chasing their passions.
