In his own words, Yaw shares bits and pieces of his journey in the media and entertainment game, comments on what it’s like to host one of the most popular TV shows right now and he also shares what he’s looking forward to the most when the Covid 19 wahala has finished.
How long have you been in the entertainment industry and how would you describe your journey thus far?
I have been into entertainment since 1995, started with home videos, and the journey has been lessons and opportunities to get better.
What are your words of wisdom for those who are still trying to get their break in the game?
Omo na turn by turn. Stay focused and keep improving on yourself so that when the opportunity comes you can step up to the plate.
What else is there for Yaw to conquer in this lifetime?
What else is there to conquer if not to be opened to more opportunities? There are still many more years for Yaw industry and I would like to use them to grow every aspect of my career, be it broadcasting, hosting, movies and everything in between.
Owambe Saturday is hugely popular, what do you think are the ingredients that have contributed to this?
The fact that it is live music. Also, the show is coming at the right time when people have missed going out to parties. Let's not forget the energy at which performances are done! The different bands and guests every week always bring a special dimension every Saturday night.
What has hosting a show like this meant for you as a brand?
It is a wonderful experience hosting a live show on the biggest TV network in Africa. I get messages on twitter, FB and Instagram from across the continent on a regular. I have even reconnected with old aqauintaces in the industry. It has re-expanded my network and reach.
What are you looking forward to the most post Covid 19?
I wish the show can continue, and also for entertainment to open up and we can move about freely. It hasn't been easy for everyone!
