After a successful first season that saw Kenya’s Wanavokali walk off with a whopping $100 000 cash prize and continent-wide recognition, the Old Mutual Amazing Voices plane finally makes its second landing (by popular demand, might we add?), only this time, Africa’s big brother, Nigeria gets to participate.
Despite changes to the audition process, the participating regions: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe successfully held their auditions digitally, and after thousands of entry clips were received, two groups in the gospel, pop and R&B genres from each region were chosen to take centre stage in South Africa for a chance at the ultimate prize.
Hosted by television royalty, South Africa’s Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo and Ghana’s Elikem Kumordzie, the show kicks off on Sunday, April 11th at 4 pm (WAT) sharp. You and yours can expect beautifully diverse takes on music, professional input from Zwai Bala and some of the industry’s top musicians, band excellence, and of course, entertainment galore.
Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo returns as host
Elikem’s been working (and playing hard) too!
Join us for the premiere episode this Sunday at 4 pm (WAT) on DStv CH 154 AM Family.
