When it was revealed that Jonas was dancing in the late GM’s parade, it was clear that his main goal was to avenge his father’s death and make Enakhe and her clan feel his wrath. This, as was revealed, was due to the fact that GM lent Jonas a hand when he was banished from Benin and left to deal with drought by Enakhe. Make we make it make sense, abi?

The genesis

After Jonas and Enakhe called it quits post the Lagos saga, the two swore to never be friendly again. While Enakhe lived comfortably on her father’s throne in Benin, Jonas wormed his way out of the gutters and formed a then unlikely partnership with GM who revealed to him that the hit on his father was indeed orchestrated by the Iwinosa. This marked the beginning of the war between GM and Jonas, and the Iwinosas. Jonas wasn’t going to let this slide!

How it unfolded
 
GM’s dirty laundry was soon hung out to dry and eventually, she took a bullet to the chest for her deeds. But not Jonas. Jonas lurked comfortably in the shadows. He continued to disturb the flow of the Iwinosas’ businesses through Virginia, Stone’s wife (an Iwinosa) and was privileged enough to take part in the film without his name making the credits. Jonas managed to keep his ties with GM’s people a secret and kept his poker face intact when dealing with the Iwinosas. Two birds, one double-edged stone.



The grey area

Things didn’t go as clear-cut and seamless as Jonas had hoped. He knew Jacinta and Cali were an item, but the announcement of the engagement dented his plans beyond recognition. He’d hoped that in due time, the Iwinosas and their legacy would be wiped off the face of the earth, but if his sister married one of them, this plan would cease to exist. Seeing as Jacinta is the only family he has, hurting her husband's family was no longer an option. Or so we thought!



How it’s going

After a little silence, GM’s husband Emeka rolled into Benin like an unexpected guest during mealtime. His was revenge and there was no leaving the city until his mission was accomplished. He wanted to make his wife’s killers pay for the disrespect. The Iwinosas caught on quickly though and managed to make peace with the man – even going as far as handing him GM’s body as a token of the truce. Little did they know, however, that Emeka and Jonas were planning on shifting funds from their shared enemy in order to disarm them of all the weapons their money bought them, this while enriching themselves.

Through Ivie, Jonas managed to get passwords to Enakhe’s work laptop and transferred N40 million into Emeka’s account. This, as was revealed during their final meeting, was to free Jonas from their claws. On the other hand, Virginia escaped death thanks to nearby abokis that dealt with Jonas’ alleged foot soldiers, and after this, she called Stone letting him know that Jonas was working with GM all along and now wanted her dead. Wahala no dey sell for market, sha!



As things stand 

Stone has taken this large piece of information to Enakhe who by the way recently allowed Jonas back into her bed (that’s how he accessed her computer and made the transfer) and to say she wasn’t happy would be a complete understatement. Cali has been injured (or could be dead) after Ivie executed the second phase of Jonas’ plan and now that she’s been discarded, decided to blow the whistle.

Jonas knows that Enakhe is aware of his betrayal and may want to skip town again because his acts are punishable by death according to the table. It’s a mess!
