Benin quickly went from cotton candy central with daddy suited up as the chocolate man that ensures the fountain never runs dry, to a blood-spattered garden where the plants only grow if an enemy’s life is cut short, and Enakhe’s nonchalant approach to god-motherhood would have never given away the fact that some of this enemy blood supply that powers great Benin city, flows directly from her hands.
Here are some of Enakhe’s most shocking deeds:
The mystery man after mommy’s life
Latifah has had her own fair share of run-ins with her enemies. Before embarking (forced really) on the spiritual journey that saw her trapped in the forest with supernaturally enabled women in white cloths, there were a few attempts at her life, one of which Enakhe came to know about. Let’s just say that the man (Eno) that tried to put Latifah down was the first to nourish the blood-spattered garden, courtesy of Enakhe.
Abel and the police commissioner
There are revenge killings, and then there are “summoned” killings. Abel and the commissioner’s demise were a result of the latter. As a member of The Table and appointed by default’ head of the Iwinosa tribe, Enakhe was and still is to carry out duties that not only ensure that their illicit businesses thrive right under the law’s nose but that greedy partners who want to both have and eat their cake, never get to enjoy Benin sunshine again. Enakhe was ordered to execute these killings, and that she did! Garden no dey bloom like dis?
Jonas’ Lagos kidnap saga
Like you, we’d been questioning the legitimacy of Enakhe and Jonas’ animosity because, in all honesty, it takes time to go from passionate lovers to sworn enemies. But Jonas’ hostage situation back in Lagos, allegedly mapped out by Enakhe herself, made believers out of us. In fact, Enakhe wouldn’t think twice if she were tasked with putting a bullet through Jonas, and he’s been trying to wipe out the Iwinosas since his return. Fair game, if you ask us.
The end of GM the menace
GM came into Benin like an unwelcome whirlwind. Sowing division amongst table members and making a mockery out of anyone that dared question her. She always had the ‘end the Iwinosas’ plan engraved on her bedroom wall and after gathering enough foot soldiers (including some recruited from the Iwinosa army), she tried to feed the garden, but Toothpick, one of Cali’s guys changed sides and shielded Cali, Enakhe and Jacinta.
That attempt and GM claiming to have dirt on each family member fueled Enakhe’s anger. After fruitless searches, Archie delivered GM on a Benin-styled platter and before getting any answers out of her, Enakhe put a bullet through her chest. Loud silence and a well-nourished garden.
Osaze who?
After GM’s execution, the new commissioner of police, who also happens to be Archie’s uncle, turned his back on the table thanks to Enakhe’s blatant disrespect and went ‘madman’ on their dealings. He later forged a connection with Osaze who in turn, made life and business very difficult for the Iwinosas. His gloating, however, came to a quick end when Enakhe rounded them (Osaze, Archie and their men) up at Cali and Jacinta’s wedding, and prompted Stone to kill Osaze. Her deed, but not her hand. The garden is a forest by now.
Things have been quite rough to say the least and after cheating death as many times as she blinks in any given hour, Enakhe adopted the ‘kill or be killed’ approach. She confessed to some of these killings while visiting Epa’s grave and judging by her nonchalance, there are more killings where the above-mentioned came from.
